Time lapse films are great. They can show us amazing things that happen in everyday life that we simply don't notice in real time. How ever i have always thought there is something missing in the scenes they portray. Sound. Most time lapse films are backed by music tracks, and while this can create an exciting video it doesn't fully involve the viewer in scene being shown. The music distances the audience and distracts them from the action. So i thought if i could time lapse the soundscape of the area at the same time as the photo's, i could accurately let people listen to what is going on as well and see. Giving them both the sense of sound and sight will allow them to better understand the scene and will therefore be more engaging. With the help of a sound experimentalist and blogger Andrew Spitz i finally managed to make this idea a reality. A DSLR, tripod and intervalometer taking photos and a laptop and shot-gun mic capturing the audio was everything i needed to make this video.
